This year's holiday party will be held on Sunday, December 21st. We are currently looking for people to sponsor wish lists for individual children at the party. This involves purchasing a toy from the child's wish list, wrapping it, and bringing it to us by Friday, December 19th. For more information on how to sponsor a wish list, or to purchase a toy online from our main Amazon.com list, please visit our donations page.
Christmas in the City was founded by John "Jake" Kennedy and Patricia "Sparky" Kennedy, who wanted their children to be familiar with people less fortunate than themselves. At the same time, John and his brother Richard had noticed a favorable fundraising situation: Their family business, the Kennedy Brothers Physical Therapy centers, had already organized many successful fundraising efforts, so why not add a children's holiday charity to the roster? Their location, in the heart of Boston's financial district, gave them access to an excellent cross-section of potential volunteers and contributors. Over the years, the project has grown to undreamed-of proportions, and currently helps provide for thousands of Boston's less-fortunate children.
Christmas in the City's 2005 holiday party was documented by WCVB-5 Boston's Chronicle. Please watch to learn more about our party and what we do.
